چکیده

OBJECTIVE: Many studies of dementia mainly Alzheimer's disease (AD) by using MEG have been reported. Some results show there are some differences between patients and controls in MEG data. But it is still difficult to diagnose the disease in early stage using their methods because of large individual variation. We measured many patients and normal aged subjects, and extracted various parameters from the MEG data. Using this MEG database, we try to develop a more practical diagnostic protocol. METHODS: MEG measurements were performed in 3 conditions, spontaneous activities with eyes-closed and eyes-opened conditions, in executing a missing oddball task and listening to music. We also collected MRI images, MMSE scores, clinical features and so on. The database has three types of data. The first group data consists of MEG raw data, MRI images, measurement information and etc. The second group data consists of graphical analysis results such as magnetic field patterns, spectrograms of MEG signal. The third group data consists of characteristic parameters mainly extracted from the second data group. RESULTS: Some parameters had significant differences between AD and normal control (NC) statistically. We investigated a mutual relationship between these parameters, and found that some parameters were highly independent each other. We also collected the data of other dementia (FTD, VD, etc), and found the difference in some parameters. CONCLUSION: We made a MEG database for dementia study, and found characteristic parameters of MEG data to distinguish AD from NC. Combining these parameters may be enabled to design a more effective diagnose protocol for dementia.

Combined MEG and fMRI model

An integrated model for magnetoencephalography (MEG) and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) is proposed. In the proposed model, MEG and fMRI outputs are related to the corresponding aspects of neural activities in a voxel. Post synaptic potentials (PSPs) and action potentials (APs) are two main signals generated by neural activities. In the model, both of MEG and fMRI are related to t...

Characteristics of MEG Removal from Industrial Wastewater by Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR)

Background: MEG is extensively applied in the sour gas industry as a hydrate inhibitor. It is toxic in oral drinking and serious injury or death may result from swallowing of pure ethylene glycol and poses a potential hazard to the environment through impact soil. Glycols are harmful to aquatic life. There is little information about the digestion of MEG in the aerobic reactor. Therefore, t...

Magnetoencephalography in Stroke Recovery and Rehabilitation

Magnetoencephalography (MEG) is a non-invasive neurophysiological technique used to study the cerebral cortex. Currently, MEG is mainly used clinically to localize epileptic foci and eloquent brain areas in order to avoid damage during neurosurgery. MEG might, however, also be of help in monitoring stroke recovery and rehabilitation. This review focuses on experimental use of MEG in neurorehabi...

Functional Neuroimaging of Language Using Magnetoencephalography.

Magnetoencephalography (MEG) is a novel functional brain mapping technique capable of non-invasively measuring neurophysiological activity based on direct measures of the magnetic flux at the head surface associated with the synchronized electrical activity of neuronal populations. Among the most actively sought applications of MEG has been localization of language-specific cortex. This is in p...

Identification of the rs797045105 in the SERAC1 gene by Whole-Exome Sequencing in a Patient Suspicious of MEGDEL Syndrome

Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) has been increasingly utilized in genetic determinants of various inherited diseases. We identified a new variation in SERAC1 as the cause of 3-Methylglutaconic Aciduria (MEG), Deafness (D), Encephalopathy (E), and Leigh-like (L), MEGDEL syndrome using WES. We found an insertion, rs797045105 (chr6, 158571484, C>CCATG), in the SERAC1 gene with homozygous genotype in ...
